GROUND FLOOR:

1)  Front Office – Is now home to the Blues Heaven Foundation store, where you can pick up a T-Shirt, Hats, CD’s, key chains, books, etc. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2)  Leonard/Phil Chess Office – One of the two original wood panelled offices that Leonard and Phil Chess occupied during the Chess heyday.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3)  Shipping – This room was used for shipping and receiving.  Chess Records would distribute and ship their records all across America from this room.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4)  Shipping – This room is now used to showcase “Portraits from Blues Heaven” memorabilia and our ongoing “Life Cast Portraits” wall by artist Sharon McConnell (www.sharonmcconnell.net).

 

 

 

 

 

SECOND FLOOR:

1)  Main Studio - This is where the legendary Chess artists Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Koko Taylor, Chuck Berry and producer/songwriter/musician Willie Dixon recorded their music.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 2)  Main Studio and Control Room – Is now used by Blues Heaven Foundation for many of its ongoing programs with our hands on instructors, and many of our live music events.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3)  Rehearsal Studio – This smaller studio and control room was used for rehearsals and initial sound recording.  Much of our memorabilia is on display here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4)  Sound Proofing – You can view the original sound proofing used in the 50′s between the main studio and the double staircase.
